Catherine “Cathy” Ann Coddington, age 70, of rural Paola, Kansas, died January 19, 2014 at the Kansas City Hospice House.

Cathy was born December 24, 1943 at Danville, Illinois. She was the daughter of John and M. Edith (Murphy) Yuhas. She was raised in Westville, Illinois. Cathy graduated in 1962 from Schlarman Catholic High School in Danville, Illinois.

She was married to Bill Coddington on February 28, 1976 at Osawatomie, Kansas. They made their home in rural Paola, Kansas.

Cathy was a very astute business woman. She had worked as a realtor for Pool Realty from 1998 until 2010. She and Bill bought property in rural Paola and Cathy was the general contractor in the building of their home. She was a member of BPOE #921 in Osawatomie. In fact, she was the first woman to become a member of the Elks Lodge in Osawatomie.

She became quite the photographer and was self-taught. She especially enjoyed taking photos of her grandchildren, wild life, and pets. Cathy had a true love of life. Her beautiful smile radiated her vibrant personality. She was a wonderful wife and mother, one of the best grandmas a child could ever want and a faithful friend. Her family, both immediate and extended, meant the world to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Yuhas.

She is survived by her husband Bill of the home; daughter Mary Donaldson Bates (Jon) of Powell, Ohio; son John Donaldson (Stacey) of LaVerne, California; daughter Brenda Coddington Leonard (Terry) of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter Becky Coddington of Kansas City, Kansas; and son Richard Coddington of Dayton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren Meredith Bates, Nicholas Bates, Sinjin Donaldson, Karina Donaldson, Amanda Niehoff, Ashley McKinney, Joshua Leonard, Eric Corum, Sarah Corum, and Robert Kubicki ; 7 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Memorials are to the Kansas City Hospice House or Pancreatic Cancer Research.
